Prof. Orestes visit to SENAI CIMATEC

From 07/04 to 08/04/2022, the Visiting Researcher Prof. Orestes Llanes Santiago, CAPES/PRINT/UERJ scholarship will participate in lectures and technical meetings at SENAI/CIMATEC, in Salvador. Below is the schedule of the event.

Day 07/04

09:00h-11:30h: Getting to know the CIMATEC Salvador
11:30h-15:00h: Getting to know the  CIMATEC Park
16:00h-18:00h: 1º Workshop

Title: “Model-based Fault Detection: Modeling and Addressing Parity Spaces

Objective: Get participants to know how a fault can be modeled and included in the dynamic model of a control system. Design a model-based fault detection system using parity spaces.

introduction: The fundamental elements to be considered in modeling faults and incorporating them into the overall model of a system will be presented.

Modeling: An example of how to model the faults that can occur in a valve of a control system will be presented.

Model-based fault detection: The parity spaces approach will be presented as an example of the methods developed for model-based fault detection. An example will be developed and presented with its simulation in MATLAB.

Prerequisites for the participants: be graduated in Engineering, Applied Mathematics or Physics.

Day 08/04

9:00h-10:15h: Meeting with related technological areas;

  • 20min presentation of the competence of the Maintenance area;
  • Technical discussions and opportunities for collaboration;

10:30h-12h: Meeting with faculty (postgraduation);

  • 20 minutes of presentation of the related postgraduate programmes;
  • Discussions about opportunities for scientific and technological collaborations;

14h-15:30h: Lecture

Title: “Diagnosis of Industrial System Failures

  • Objective: Get participants to know:
    • Main motivations for the development of fault diagnosis systems in industrial control systems;
    • Fundamental characteristics of fault diagnosis systems;
    • Classification of fault diagnosis methods in industrial systems;
    • Introducing the main characteristics of model-based and data-driven fault diagnosis systems.
  • Prerequisites for the participants: be graduated in Engineering, Applied Mathematics or Physics.

16h-18h: 2º Workshop

  • Title: “Data Analysis
  • Objective: Getting participants to know how the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) tool works to reduce the number of variables to be analyzed and their use in fault detection.
  • Introduction: The fundamental concepts on which the extraction of knowledge contained in a dataset is based will be presented. The importance of variability will be analyzed as a parameter that indicates where knowledge can be extracted.
  • Data Analysis: Fundamental elements of a classifier; Measures most used in data analysis; Training a Classifier.
  • Analysis of main components: Present the most important characteristics of this tool, used to reduce the dimension of the analysis space. Example of the use of the PCA tool and its implementation in MATLAB.
  • Prerequisites for the participants: be graduated in Engineering, Applied Mathematics or Physics.
  • OBS: for the “Data Analysis” workshop MATLAB software will be used, so knowledge of this software is required.
